The digital version of Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is priced $59.99 instead of $69.99.
Nintendo plans to lower prices for digital titles exclusive to the Switch 2 starting in May, the company announced on Wednesday. This new pricing is currently in effect for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, which is available for preorder at $59.99 for the digital copy and $69.99 for the physical version.
Nintendo’s announcement states that both physical and digital copies of Switch 2 games will deliver the same experiences. The price difference reflects the distinct costs involved in producing and distributing each format. It’s unclear if Nintendo will adjust prices in other regions, as Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is still priced at around $55.74 on Amazon’s UK site, according to @Wario64.
Nintendo mentions that “retail partners set their own prices for physical and digital games, which can vary for each title.” Prices for Switch 2 games have varied, with titles like Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokémon Pokopia at $69.99, while Mario Kart World is priced at $79.99.
The Switch 2 launched last year with record-breaking sales, but Nintendo has since reduced production due to declining demand in the US, reports Bloomberg.
