Meta Unveils New Ray-Ban Glasses for Prescription Wearers

3 Min Read

On Tuesday, Meta announced the launch of two new Ray-Ban smart glasses designed for prescription lenses. Although many users already utilize Meta glasses with prescription lenses, these new versions support almost all prescriptions and aim to enhance the experience for those who need to wear glasses all day.

The glasses will be priced starting at $499 and available at optical retailers in the U.S. and selected international markets from April 14. They come in two styles: Blayzer, featuring a rectangular shape available in Standard and Large sizes, and Scriber, which offers a rounder frame.

These glasses, according to Meta, are the most comfortable the company has created, intended for all-day wear. The Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics (Gen 2) and Ray-Ban Scriber Optics (Gen 2) are tailored for individual fit, equipped with flexible overextension hinges, interchangeable nose pads, and adjustable temple tips, customizable by an optician to fit your face.

Meta is also expanding its selection with new colors and lens options for Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta frames. The Ray-Ban Meta Skyler will be available in Shiny Transparent Peach with Transitions Brown Lenses, a Headliner in Matte Transparent Peach with Transitions Grey Lenses, and the Wayfarer in Shiny Transparent Grey with Transitions Sapphire Lenses.

For the Oakley Meta, Meta will provide the Vanguard glasses in Vanguard Black with Prizm Black Lenses, Vanguard White with Prizm Rose Gold Lenses, Vanguard Black with Prizm Transitions Ember Lenses, HSTN Black with Prizm Dark Golf Lenses, and HSTN Light Curry with Clear to Brown Transitions Lenses.

The company is also enhancing its eyewear with more AI capabilities. Nutrition tracking is being made simpler, enabling users to log meals using voice commands or quick photos without needing hands. Meta AI processes key nutrition information, adding it to a food log, which over time will offer personalized insights for making healthier choices.

In addition, Meta is incorporating hands-free WhatsApp summaries and recall into its Early Access Program (EAP). Users can prompt, “Hey Meta, catch me up on my messages,” for a group chat summary, or inquire about specifics, such as, “What did Jamie suggest for dinner?” Meta ensures interactions are processed on-device and remain private with end-to-end encryption.

Furthermore, Neural Handwriting on Meta Ray-Ban Display is set to be available shortly. This feature allows users to respond silently and discreetly to messages by writing with their finger on any surface, compatible with Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and native messaging on Android and iOS.
