With iOS 26.4, you can now interact with AI chatbots via your CarPlay dashboard. ChatGPT, for example, is accessible if you have this iOS version and the latest ChatGPT app, as reported by 9to5Mac. The update supports “voice-based conversational apps” on CarPlay, enabling chatbot usage with voice features in Apple’s in-car platform.

Using ChatGPT on CarPlay doesn’t display text; interactions are voice-based, according to 9to5Mac. Apple’s developer guidelines recommend not displaying text or imagery as responses. However, there are buttons for muting and ending conversations.

MacRumors notes that you can review a list of recent conversations with ChatGPT. However, there is no wake word to activate ChatGPT on CarPlay; you must manually open the app.
