Cameo Collaborates with TikTok to Enhance Popularity

2 Min Read

In an attempt to regain its popularity, Cameo, a celebrity greeting app, introduced a new TikTok integration enabling U.S. creators to provide personalized Cameo videos directly through the short-form video app.

The partnership is designed to boost creator earnings and simplify the process for fans to request Cameo videos. Creators can now offer personalized messages within TikTok, making it convenient for followers to access this service alongside their usual content. For existing Cameo creators, this integration broadens their audience reach.

Cameo’s strategy is smart, leveraging TikTok’s millions of creators and their vast fan bases. TikTokers are one of the fastest-growing groups on Cameo, with stars like Ash Trevino, Alex Dougherty, and SmoothPapi topping Cameo’s leaderboard.

Cameo CEO Steven Galanis mentioned that Cameo videos often go viral on TikTok and noted 2025 as a strong year for TikTok talent on Cameo.

During the peak of COVID-19, Cameo was valued at $1 billion, helping fans connect with celebrities via personalized video messages. However, the company faced a major downturn in 2024, with a valuation drop of over 90%, and struggled with financial issues, including a $600,000 FTC fine. In a bid to regain interest, Cameo launched a birthday planning app named Candl last year.

This partnership aligns with broader media trends, where companies see influencers as valuable for enhancing their services. Streaming platforms like Tubi and Peacock have recently collaborated with creators for original content.

TikTok currently offers features that enhance interaction between fans and creators, such as tips, virtual gifts, subscriptions, and a “bulletin board” for public messages sharing.

Additionally, the Cameo integration coincides with recent TikTok announcements regarding new ad formats and a hidden emoji game accessible in direct messages.
