Newsletter platform Beehiiv is rolling out native podcast hosting, enabling creators to host, distribute, and monetize podcasts directly on the platform. Users can publish episodes, share them with subscribers, and access analytics all in one place. According to Beehiiv’s co-founder and CEO Tyler Denk, this integration was a logical step due to the significant overlap between newsletters and podcasts. Many users had requested this feature to consolidate their tools on Beehiiv.
Denk notes that thousands of Beehiiv users already host podcasts elsewhere, making it sensible to integrate this option internally. This move positions Beehiiv to compete with other platforms like Patreon and Substack, which also support podcasts. Beehiiv has recently expanded its offerings to include tools for website creation and analytics, indicating its aim to become an all-encompassing platform for creators.
Beehiiv’s strategy includes attracting creators by allowing them to retain 100% of their revenue, unlike Substack and Patreon, which take cuts of 10% and 8%, respectively. Creators can offer podcasts bundled with their subscriptions, providing premium experiences for paid subscribers. Beehiiv is also planning to expand its ad network to include podcasts and is in the process of hiring a Head of Podcasts.
Several podcasts will be joining Beehiiv at launch, such as “Genshe” with Avni Barman, “505 podcast” with Brayden Figueroa and Kostas Garcia, “The Rebooting” with Brian Morrissey, and others. Beehiiv expects significant adoption from current users and aims to attract podcasters interested in starting newsletters.
Denk believes newsletters complement podcasts, enhancing audience ownership, distribution, and advertising opportunities. The integration allows creators to manage their content more efficiently across different formats.
Beehiiv enables creators to upload podcasts, which are then distributed to major platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and others. Supported file formats include MP3, M4A, and WAV, with features like audio normalization and episode transcripts for better discoverability. Each episode receives an SEO-optimized webpage to keep listeners engaged on the platform.
The platform’s podcast analytics meet IAB standards, offering insights by country, app, device, and more. Founded in 2021, Beehiiv raised $33 million in a Series B funding round in April 2024. Denk recently shared that Q1 2026 was the company’s strongest quarter, adding $4.5M ARR, sending over 10 billion emails, and amassing 50,000 active users.
