iOS 27: An Overview of Three New Features and Modifications Apart from Siri

2 Min Read

iOS 27 is set to be announced on June 8 at WWDC 2026, and while speculation suggests a significant emphasis on Siri and AI, here are three additional new features and modifications apart from Siri.

## #1: Liquid Glass slider and various UI enhancements

Liquid Glass is here to endure, yet it’s anticipated to advance. Speculation suggests that Apple will unveil modifications to its Liquid Glass design in iOS 27. One expected addition is a new slider that will enable users to modify the Liquid Glass effect on different UI components. Apple had originally planned to incorporate such a slider last year, but it was not adequately prepared in time and is now projected for iOS 27. Presently, there is only a slider for the Lock Screen clock. Furthermore, Bloomberg indicates that some interface adjustments are on the way in iOS 27, though specific information is still unclear.

## #2: Calendar overhaul and additional system app modifications

The Apple Calendar app is likely to see a substantial overhaul. Mark Gurman reported that Apple initially intended to launch the revamped Calendar app last year, but it has since been postponed and is now scheduled for iOS 27 and macOS 27. Updates to Apple’s system applications are standard with major OS releases, so iOS 27 will probably introduce changes to other apps like Safari and Photos as well.

## #3: iPhone Fold multitasking enhancements

While new multitasking functionalities may not be featured at WWDC, iOS 27 is anticipated to bring changes designed for the upcoming iPhone Fold. Mark Gurman remarked that Apple’s foldable iPhone will include updates to the iOS platform that support iPad-like layouts and side-by-side applications, boosting its multitasking features. iOS 27 is expected to be made publicly available in September, shortly following the Apple event where the iPhone Fold is likely to be disclosed.
