If you’ve been watching comedy on YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok lately, you’ve probably encountered clips from Dropout. Whether it’s Sam Reich testing the limits of contestants on Game Changer or Vic Michaelis engaging with comedians in elaborate costumes on Very Important People, Dropout is redefining improvised comedy online.
Fans of Dropout will recognize two recurring comedians: Jeremy Culhane and Kurt Maloney. Jeremy Culhane also appeared in the latest season of Saturday Night Live.
This year, the Dropout team made their presence known at SXSW, performing everything from Lily Du and Grant O’Brien’s Dirty Laundry to Jacquis Neal’s Crowd Control, along with traditional long-form improv.
Before their major improv show at Austin City Limits Live, Culhane and Maloney visited Mashable’s SXSW Say More studio to discuss comedy, Jeremy’s path to Saturday Night Live, and how Dropout continues to innovate in comedy and its online consumption. Watch the full episode on YouTube.
