Picsart, an AI-driven design platform, has announced the launch of a creator monetization program, exclusively revealed to TechCrunch. This program is accessible to all interested creators without the need for an invite or a specific audience size.
Creators can use Picsart’s tools to produce original content for designated campaigns, share it on their social networks, and earn money based on audience engagement. The program emphasizes rewarding creativity and performance rather than follower count.
With this initiative, Picsart is transitioning from being merely a creative tool to a platform that enables creators to earn money, aiming to attract and retain talent. Upon joining, creators can access a dashboard showcasing current prompts and challenges, such as creating cute fluffy creatures using Picsart Aura, the AI assistant for generating images and videos from text or voice inputs.
The company stresses that posting AI-generated images alone won’t yield significant engagement or earnings. Once content is made, creators fill out a form with the live asset’s URL, tag it as required, and briefly describe their creative process. This content is then shared on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X.
Earnings are determined by views, comments, shares, and reach, with creators able to monitor and withdraw funds via Stripe. “We’ve always believed that creativity should be for everyone—and now, so should the rewards,” says Hovhannes Avoyan, Picsart’s founder and CEO.
There are varied earning opportunities for creators producing tutorials, edits, or short videos. Founded in 2011, Picsart now has over 130 million users globally and achieved unicorn status during the creator economy boom in 2021.
This monetization expansion follows Picsart’s recent launch of an AI agent marketplace, allowing creators to “hire” AI assistants for tasks like resizing content or editing photos.
