Richard Gadd, creator and star of the Emmy-winning “Baby Reindeer,” is not venturing into lighter territory next. The BBC has unveiled the trailer for “Half Man,” Gadd’s six-episode series exploring a toxic relationship. The plot follows Ruben (Gadd) and Niall (played by Jamie Bell from “All of Us Strangers”), who were raised together as brothers but aren’t related by blood. Their personalities clash, but their bond is strong. A looming question is what occurred during their adolescence that makes Ruben’s presence at Niall’s wedding 30 years later so fraught with tension. “Half Man” delves into past secrets and current revelations, promising a gripping narrative.

The series features actors Mitchell Robertson, Stuart Campbell, Neve McIntosh, Marianne McIvor, Charlie De Melo, Anjli Mohindra, Bilal Hasna, Julie Cullen, Amy Manson, Tim Downie, Tom Andrews, and others.

“Half Man” will air weekly in the U.S. on HBO and HBO Max at 9 p.m. ET starting April 23, and in the UK on BBC iPlayer from 6 a.m. on April 24.
