GL.inet Comet 5G (GL-RM10RC) offers a KVM over IP solution with a 3.69-inch touchscreen display and 5G RedCap IoT cellular connectivity, ensuring remote access during Internet outages. Building on the GL.iNet Comet Pro, this model features a larger design, display, and adds 5G cellular connectivity along with WiFi 6 and Gigabit Ethernet. It includes HDMI input and output ports, two USB Type-C ports for power and keyboard/mouse emulation, and a USB 2.0 port for accessories like ATX power control or Fingerbot.

GL.iNet Comet 5G specifications:
– SoC: Quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU @ 1.5 GHz; likely Rockchip RV1126B
– System Memory: 1GB DDR3L
– Storage: 64 GB eMMC flash
– Video & Audio: HDMI input up to 4K @ 30 FPS, HDMI loop/passthrough output, H.264 hardware video encoding (30-60ms latency)
– Networking: Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi 6 up to 286 Mbps, 5G RedCap with NanoSIM slot and external cellular antenna
– USB: USB 2.0 Type-A for peripherals, USB 2.0 Type-C for mouse/keyboard emulation
– Misc: Reset button, 3.69-inch touchscreen display
– Power Input: 5V/3A via USB Type-C with PD support
– Dimensions: 128 x 93 x 33 mm; Weight: 285 grams

Running an OS based on Linux 6.1, possibly the Buildroot-built GLKVM OS, it includes the GLKVM app for Windows, macOS, Android, and soon iOS. There’s no Linux app, but control is possible via web browser within the LAN or through VPN over the Internet.

The GL.iNet Comet 5G is available for $299.99 on Amazon, $265.19 on AliExpress, and $299.99 on the GL.iNet store. Despite 5G RedCap being cheaper than regular 5G, the Comet 5G costs $120 more than last year’s Comet Pro, partly due to its larger touchscreen and 64GB eMMC flash.
