Social media platform X is introducing a feature that auto-translates posts and a photo editor allowing image modifications through natural language, using xAI’s Grok models. These updates aim to improve user experiences.
X’s head of product, Nikita Bier, announced automatic translation is being released globally. Users can disable this feature for specific languages via the gear icon on translated posts.
Other networks like Reddit have tested similar approaches, using machine translation to expand global reach.
Additionally, a new image editor is being launched on X’s iOS app, featuring drawing, text tools, and a blur feature for obscuring sensitive details. Users can also instruct Grok with natural language prompts to edit images, for example, asking to make a photo appear as a museum painting, with Android updates forthcoming.
Earlier, Elon Musk faced criticism over misuse of image editing, leading to restrictions on Grok’s image generation to paid users only. It remains unclear if these new updates will also require a subscription.
Companies like Google and Adobe have developed AI-enhanced features for describing image edits.
