Tractive’s New Dog and Cat Trackers Offer More Health Insights for Your Pets

The $79 Cat 6 Mini offers a more streamlined design, while the $89 Dog 6 XL notifies you of excessive scratching.

After acquiring competitor Whistle from Mars Petcare nearly a year ago, Tractive unveils two new pet trackers today. The Cat 6 Mini offers a sleeker design compared to Tractive’s current smart cat tracker, featuring monitoring of additional vital signs. The Dog 6 XL, made for larger breeds, is lighter and more durable with extended battery life.

Both trackers, priced at $79 and $89 respectively, are available now via the company’s online store and other retailers, in multiple colors — beige, black, and purple for the cat tracker, and beige and black for the dog tracker. Each requires a subscription. The Basic Plan, covering unlimited live tracking, virtual fences, and escape alerts, costs $108 per year, or $144 for two years. The Premium Plan, which includes all Basic Plan features plus worldwide coverage, family sharing, 365 days of location history, and GPS data export, costs $120 per year, $168 for two years, or $300 for five years.

Traditionally, pet health and location tracking innovations focused on dogs, but Tractive aims to advance feline technology with the Cat 6 Mini. Its design resembles a collar rather than a box, and it monitors resting heart rate and respiratory rate to detect stress or discomfort. The Tractive mobile app also details a cat’s territory, monitoring changes in roaming patterns and favorite resting spots.

The Dog 6 XL tracker suits active canines over 55 pounds, successfully surviving harsh outdoor conditions. Its battery life is up to three times longer than the previous model, which could last up to four weeks on a single charge. Health monitoring capabilities are expanded with a system detecting changes in scratching behavior, potentially alerting owners to allergies, skin irritants, or stress.

An enhanced version of the Dog 6 XL with an ultra-durable case is also set to launch later this summer.
