Nine months after founding Meta Superintelligence Labs, Mark Zuckerberg announced a major milestone: the introduction of a new AI model family called Muse, with Spark being the debut model now available. Muse Spark is the initial step in a complete AI overhaul, focusing on everyday tasks like visual understanding, health, shopping, and social content. Future models in the Muse lineup will include open-source releases. Zuckerberg first envisioned “personal superintelligence” as AI aiding personal goals rather than being centrally controlled. Meta aggressively hired over 50 researchers from rivals and structured the superintelligence team into smaller units. Despite market doubts, Zuckerberg’s goal remains to empower individuals with AI. Muse Spark’s benchmark tests against other models showed mixed results, but its release marks a significant product from Meta’s investment in superintelligence. Muse Spark is available at meta.ai or via the Meta AI app, with a preview API for select users. A “Contemplating” mode will launch soon, enhancing reasoning capabilities.
