**Transcripts Now Accessible in Overcast for All Users**

Overcast, the widely-used third-party podcast application, has unveiled a major new feature in its latest update: transcripts. The update, version 2026.04, is now live on the App Store, providing all users with access to transcripts.

Initially, this feature was available in Overcast’s beta version, and its official launch signifies a significant upgrade for podcast enthusiasts. Users can obtain Overcast from the App Store to utilize this new capability.

To view transcripts, users can swipe left while looking at the podcast artwork. If the podcast includes chapters, the transcript will be displayed to the right of the chapter view. The transcripts offer a live-scroll feature, akin to that of Apple Podcasts, ensuring the text visible on-screen corresponds with the audio playback. Additionally, users can tap on any part of the transcript to jump directly to that segment of the episode.

Developer Marco Arment has mentioned that transcripts are provided for “most podcasts.” For podcasts that do not currently have a transcript, AI-compatible devices running iOS 26 can automatically create one.

Looking forward, Arment has detailed numerous enhancements planned for upcoming updates, including:

– Transcript search
– AI-driven transcript analysis, including summaries and automatic chapters
– Clip-sharing with captions

The rollout of transcripts in Overcast is anticipated to enrich the listening experience, offering users a more engaging method to interact with podcast material. User feedback on this new feature is welcome, as Overcast continues to progress and enhance its services.
