Meta’s AI app experienced a notable increase in installs after launching its latest AI model, Muse Spark, on Wednesday. Under the leadership of Alexandr Wang from Scale AI, this significant upgrade aims to enhance Meta’s AI capabilities. Appfigures reported a jump from No. 57 to No. 5 on the U.S. App Store, indicating strong consumer interest.
Muse Spark, available on the web and mobile, surpasses the previous Llama 4 models and aims to rival AI leaders like OpenAI and Anthropic. Meta has invested billions in AI talent and $14.3 billion in Scale AI. The model supports voice, text, and image inputs and assists with various tasks like health information, complex reasoning, and visual coding. It can launch subagents for users’ questions and plans to extend to WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and AI glasses soon.
Meta AI’s app underwent an update in appearance and functionality, enabling mode-switching based on tasks. Despite recent growth, it trails behind leading AI chatbots, OpenAI’s ChatGPT (No. 1), Anthropic’s Claude (No. 2), and Google’s Gemini (No. 3). Alexandr Wang celebrated the app’s ranking improvement and emphasized ongoing growth in a post on X.
Appfigures data shows the Meta AI app has reached 60.5 million worldwide downloads, with 25 million occurring this year. Downloads have surged by 138% in the past five months. India leads in downloads, followed by the U.S., Brazil, Pakistan, and Mexico.
