Aya Cash Discusses Giant, Boycotting, and the Silliest Aspect of Being on The Boys

The phrase “don’t meet your heroes” resonates in the new Broadway stage play featuring Aya Cash (“You’re the Worst”, “The Boys”).

Written by Mark Rosenblatt, “Giant” stars John Lithgow as Roald Dahl, the British author renowned for stories like “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “James and the Giant Peach,” and “Matilda.” However, this play explores the shift in the perception of Dahl’s work following his antisemitic remarks in interviews from 1983. When his comments spark public controversy, the task of handling this scandal falls to an American publisher named Jessie Stone (Cash), tasked with ensuring that his forthcoming book “The Witches” isn’t affected. Despite admiring his work, Jessie is taken aback by Dahl’s harshness and views. Cash stands out as a strong co-star to Lithgow’s formidable performance.

Cash visited the Say More studio to discuss “Giant,” which transitioned from the West End to Broadway this spring. The play not only delves into Dahl’s story but also broader themes such as art versus the artist and cancel culture. In conversation with Entertainment Editor Kristy Puchko, Cash addressed how she grapples with these issues personally. In the full interview on YouTube, she also discusses her motivations as an actor, her experiences on “Giant” and “The Boys,” and the light-hearted aspects of portraying a superhero in the upcoming prequel spinoff “Vought Rising,” where she’ll reprise her role as Stormfront.

“Giant” is now on Broadway.

“The Boys” Season 5 is streaming on Prime Video with new episodes every Wednesday.

The release of “Vought Rising” is yet to be announced.
