A few days ago, we explored the WeAct Studio STM32U585CIU6 development board, which includes an ultra-low-power STM32U5 Cortex-M33 MCU and recently gained support in MicroPython v1.28. If you need another STM32U5-based solution, especially for compact UI tasks, Maker Go now provides an STM32U575 board equipped with a display connector, a microSD slot, and numerous GPIOs.

Whereas the WeAct board’s STM32U585 includes cryptographic accelerators, the STM32U575VGT6 on Maker Go’s board maintains a similar high-performance Cortex-M33 core at 160 MHz and retains ultra-low-power capabilities. This board adds an 8MB external flash and is configured for direct 1.47 or 2.0-inch LCD connections via ribbon cable.

STM32U575VGT6 board specifications:

– Microcontroller – ST STM32U575VGT6
– Core – Arm Cortex-M33 Armv8-M clocked at up to 160 MHz with FPU, Arm TrustZone
– Memory – 786 KB SRAM
– Flash – 1024 KB flash
– GPU – Chrom-ART accelerator for 2D graphics
– Package – LQFP100

– Storage
– 8MB SPI Flash
– MicroSD slot

– Display – Interface for 1.47 and 2.00-inch displays

– USB – Type-C for power/programming (supports USB download)

– Expansion – 2x headers for GPIOs, 3.3V, 5V, and GND

– Debugging/Programming:
– SWD download interface
– Methods: Downloader, USB, Serial port

– Miscellaneous
– Reset and User/Boot buttons
– Power/RGB LED
– Crystal oscillator
– RTC

– Power Supply – 5V via USB Type-C; 1A high-current with ESD protection

– Dimensions – 59.7 mm x 35.8 mm

The board features a breadboard-friendly layout, requiring you to solder header pins. Flashing options include SWD downloader, USB, or serial port. While no specific software resources exist for this board, STM32Cube IDE and HAL libraries support C/C++ development. There’s no official MicroPython firmware, but MicroPython v1.27 supports STM32U5 series MCUs. Visit the STM32CubeU5 GitHub repository for further resources.

The STM32U575 development board is available on AliExpress for $15.00, without display bundle options. While Maker Go references “QSZNTEC” and “IO Impulse”, details about these are sparse, suggesting “QSZNTEC” might be a brand, and “IO Impulse” a designer alias. The board is also available on other AliExpress stores at various prices.
