Two individuals were detained for carelessly discharging a firearm outside the residence of the OpenAI CEO on Sunday.
According to The San Francisco Standard, Sam Altman was seemingly the target of another attack on Sunday morning, resulting in the arrest of two suspects after a shooting at his Russian Hill home. The suspects were charged with negligent discharge, based on a police report which includes surveillance footage depicting a vehicle occupant firing a weapon at Altman’s residence.
This incident follows an earlier attack on Friday when a 20-year-old was apprehended for allegedly hurling a Molotov cocktail at the same location. Both cases remain under investigation.
San Francisco Police reported officers were dispatched to Russian Hill around 2:56 AM PT on April 12th in response to “a suspicious occurrence of possible shots fired.” Two suspects were apprehended after learning a vehicle with two occupants passed the property “around the time of the possible shooting” — captured by a camera. Three firearms were confiscated after a search of the residence where the two suspects, aged 25 and 23, were arrested.
San Francisco Police Chief Derrick Lew stated, “The SFPD takes crimes involving guns extremely seriously, and anyone committing acts like these will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I want to thank our officers whose swift actions identified these suspects, took them into custody, and got dangerous weapons off our streets.”
