Some devices have become $500 more expensive than in 2024. Microsoft has raised prices on its Surface laptops due to the global memory shortage. The cost increase ranges up to $500, attributed to higher memory and component costs. New prices are already in place on the Microsoft Store and likely to update at other retailers. Each Surface model’s price is at least $100 higher than in 2025, with some having increased by $500 since 2024.

For instance, the 13-inch Surface Pro, which was $999 in 2024, went up to $1,199 in 2025 and now costs $1,499 in 2026. Entire Surface lineups now start at over $1,000, and the flagship Surface Laptop 15 costs $3,649. Besides Microsoft, other tech products have also faced price hikes due to the memory shortage, driven by AI data centers’ hardware demands.

In other cases, Sony halted SD card sales and increased the PS5 console pricing, while stock shortages complicate purchasing a Steam Deck. The Nintendo Switch 2 currently retails for $450, but its price stability is uncertain. In laptops, Apple also raised MacBook prices, but introduced a budget MacBook Neo, intensifying competition in the Windows laptop sector.
