Falling for the Xteink X3 was instant. It was like a determined mall search where you unexpectedly discover the perfect item—a tiny, MagSafe-compatible e-ink reader that magnetically clings to an iPhone like a Pop Socket.
This was the device I didn’t know I needed. Obtaining the Xteink X3 meant an end to doomscrolling. I’d read more books, which is impressive since I already read over 50 annually. Yet, social media still consumes more of my time. Would this $80 gadget be my solution to reading more and scrolling less?
I’ve tried reading on my phone, escaping into fiction rather than scrolling through stressful news alerts. But the urge to open social media always lingers. However, a small e-ink screen could turn my phone into a portal for reading.
Anticipation for my X3 was intense. Tracking its delivery became a daily ritual. Despite comparing its size to my iPhone 16 and Pop Socket wallet, I feared it might not fit—it did, magnetically aligning with my phone perfectly.
The X3 arrived just before a Phillies game. I hurriedly loaded books on it to capture a moment of irony: reading “The Power Broker” at a baseball game.
