Target Deal Days is setting the bar high for Amazon’s Prime Early Access Sale

a collage of products on sale during target's october deal days event

UPDATE: Oct. 7, 2022, 11:30 a.m. EDT This story has been updated with the latest and greatest offers from Target Deal Days.

This holiday shopping season, Jeff Bezos’ biggest rivals wear red polos and khakis.

Target has revived its Deal Days event from Oct. 6 through 8, offering discounts of up to 50% across every department and exclusive gift card promotions — no membership fee required. It’s billing the event as its biggest yet, plugging “over half a million holiday gifting deals across the latest toys, electronics, and video games” in addition to savings on beauty products, groceries, and everyday household essentials.

Deal Days comes just ahead of Amazon‘s first-ever Prime Early Access Sale from Oct. 11 to 12, which may give some shoppers pause. This year’s first iteration directly coincided with Prime Day in July, which made it possible to compare prices across retailers in real time.

But Target’s holiday price match guarantee could very well win over even the most devoted Prime disciples: If anything you buy from the department store gets cheaper there at some point through Dec. 24, it’ll adjust your payment to the better deal. Better yet, Target will also match select competitors’ discounts within 14 days of purchase. Amazon is not offering any sort of policies itself.

Target shoppers can further take advantage of its free-to-join Target Circle loyalty program for extra discounts, including an additional 5% off all purchases with a Target RedCard, as well as “buy now, pay later” financing options.

The only real catch with Deal Days is that some of its promotions are only available if you buy online and opt for in-store pickupthis $250 65-inch 4K Roku TV, for example. Whether a deal is good enough to justify the hassle of shlepping outside is ultimately your call. (But hey, maybe you were planning a Target run soon anyway?)

If the bullseye brand has managed to convince you not to wait around for the Prime Early Access Sale, keep reading: We’ve compiled a list of everything worth buying during Deal Days below. We’ll be updating it constantly as the sale progresses, so bookmark this page and check back often.

Note: All newly added deals are marked with a ✨, while deals with a strikeout were either sold out or no longer available at their sale price when we last looked.

HomeKit Weekly: The current state of HomeKit doorbells

When Apple announced HomeKit Secure Video, one of the first products to be desired by customers was a doorbell. Ring doorbells had become very popular, but customers wanted an option that integrated nicely with HomeKit and Apple products and provided an end-to-end encryption option for recording. The idea that a smart doorbell would be able to show you who was at your front door before even opening it up seemed like something out of a science-fiction novel a few decades ago, but now, there are multiple products and platforms that offer this service. Apple ‘notebooks’ become ‘laptops’ in sweeping Mac branding change

Apple appears to be rolling out a wide-reaching branding change about how it refers to its Mac portable lineup. Up until recently, Apple officially referred to the and MacBook Pro as “Mac notebooks” or just “notebooks,” leaning on the relatively outdated industry terminology of notebook computers.

But now, everything user-facing appears to be slowly converting to using a “laptop” nomenclature. Updates to the Apple Online Store product pages, articles in the Apple Support knowledge base, and even the Mac operating system is beginning to reflect this branding update …
