Ziff Davis has sold Downdetector and Speedtest to Accenture, a consulting and IT services provider. Accenture announced the acquisition of these Ookla-owned platforms for $1.2 billion. Accenture CEO Julie Sweet stated that the company will leverage Ookla’s products to gather data aiding “clients across business and government scale AI safely.” Ziff Davis had purchased Ookla in 2014. Among Ookla’s other offerings are Ekahau, a network design and troubleshooting software, and RootMetrics, which measures mobile network speeds. The acquisition awaits regulatory approval, but Accenture plans to maintain Ookla’s current operations. Ookla CEO Stephen Bye believes joining Accenture will broaden their network data business globally and enhance connected experiences.
