The new service, available from today across Asia, Europe, and Latin America, allows guests to pre-book airport and station transfers directly in the Airbnb app, though it’s not yet offered in the US, Canada, or Africa.
Airbnb has introduced private car transfers in over 125 cities in these regions by partnering with the UK-based airport transfer company, Welcome Pickups. Starting today, guests staying in eligible cities such as Paris, Bali, and Mexico City can pre-book a private car to or from their listing via the Trips tab in the app.
While not currently available in the United States, Canada, or Africa, Airbnb plans to expand to these areas. The feature follows a successful 2026 pilot in Europe and Asia, earning an average rating of 4.96 out of 5 from thousands of guests.
The service includes arriving guests opting for a meet-and-greet with a named driver and departing guests being picked up from their Airbnb listing. Bookings are managed entirely within the Airbnb app, no need to switch to Welcome Pickups’ platform.
This partnership is a step in Airbnb’s strategy to expand beyond accommodations. Airbnb Services launched in May 2025 with ten categories including chefs, photography, massage, and more, across 260 cities. Private car transfers are the latest addition.
CEO Brian Chesky mentioned the airport pickup pilot in an earnings call, aligning with the ambition to manage the “entire trip.” At ITB Berlin in March, Airbnb executives elaborated on this vision. Dave Stephenson, Airbnb’s Chief Business Officer, stated the partnership enhances the guest’s stay from arrival. Welcome Pickups CEO Alex Trimis highlighted the integration’s benefit to the travel journey.
For Airbnb, addressing airport pickup maintains user engagement in the app during a crucial moment and prevents users from turning to competitors. More cities are anticipated to join the service throughout 2026.
