Airbnb revealed on Tuesday the expansion of its services by introducing a car pick-up category in 125 cities globally. Partnering with Welcome Pickups, the service allows users to book private car rides in cities like Paris, Bali, and Mexico City.
The travel company conducted a pilot earlier this year in Europe and Asia, where many guests participated, achieving an average rating of 4.96. Once a stay is booked in a city where the service is offered, users can schedule a private cab within the Trips tab of the Airbnb app. Cab reservation details and amendments can be managed directly through the app.
Dave Stephenson, Airbnb’s chief business officer, stated, “Airbnb Services are designed to enhance a guest’s stay, and our partnership with Welcome Pickups delivers that from the moment they arrive.”
There are plans to extend this service to additional cities over the year. Last summer, Airbnb introduced its services category along with experiences. At that time, it included 10 service categories, enabling bookings for chefs, catering, prepared meals, photography, massages, spa treatments, personal training, hair, nails, and makeup in eight countries.
In November, Airbnb teamed up with Instacart to let guests pre-order groceries for their stays in select U.S. cities.
Through the introduction of this new feature, Airbnb is advancing towards a comprehensive service offering. The company has also been exploring options for users to book hotel rooms.
During Airbnb’s Q4 2025 earnings call, CEO Brian Chesky highlighted the significant potential in the hotel sector, indicating it will help the platform integrate more seamlessly into every type of guest trip.
