### Apple AirPods Pro 3: The Next Generation of Wireless Earbuds
Earlier this week, Apple unveiled a new iteration of its flagship wireless earbuds: AirPods Pro 3. While you may be familiar with its standout features like the heart rate monitor and doubled noise cancellation, there’s another intriguing feature lurking beneath.
With AirPods Pro 2, Apple rolled out a highly sought-after capability: the ability to locate the case through Find My. Before these AirPods, if your AirPods were not in the case, locating them was impossible. Now, thanks to Apple’s inclusion of the U1 chip in the case, that’s changed.
Now, with AirPods Pro 3, Apple has enhanced that functionality by incorporating the U2 chip in the case. Before last week’s keynote, Apple never referred to this chip as U2 (for obvious reasons for dedicated Apple enthusiasts) – but now they do. If you visit Apple’s comparison page, you’ll notice the following:
With the U2 chip, you can track your AirPods Pro 3 with greater accuracy over a significantly longer distance. Theoretically, the U2 chip offers three times the range of the U1 chip. U2 first made its debut in iPhone 15, where it helps you precisely locate friends using Find My. This feature can prove handy when you’re at a theme park, for instance.
Apple is also developing a new version of AirTag, which is expected to launch this year featuring the U2 chip, enhancing precision tracking for Apple’s item tracker as well.
If you’re looking to purchase AirPods Pro 3, pre-orders are available on Amazon for $249. They will be released on September 19th. In addition to the new heart rate sensor and improved active noise cancellation, they provide up to 10 hours of battery life in transparency mode, compared to the 6 hours offered by AirPods Pro 2. They are an exciting new offering.
