Alexa+ Adds an ‘Adults Only’ Mode with Cursing, No NSFW Content

Amazon’s AI assistant, Alexa+, introduces a new “Sassy” personality option aimed at adults. Before activation, users must complete additional security checks in the Alexa app. This style is not available when Amazon Kids is enabled. The Sassy personality joins existing options like Brief, Chill, and Sweet, introduced last month. Users are informed within the app that Sassy incorporates explicit language, necessitating a security check, with iOS requiring Face ID. The AI describes the Sassy style as helpful yet judgmental, combining wit with reality checks and a touch of humor. While containing mature content, the style avoids explicit sexual content, hate speech, or harmful interactions. This move aligns with Amazon’s goal to personalize Alexa+ in the age of generative AI, reflecting a trend towards diverse and engaging AI personalities.
