Amazon has confirmed the acquisition of Fauna Robotics, a startup created by ex-Meta and Google engineers focused on developing small humanoid robots. Bloomberg first reported the acquisition, though the financial terms remain undisclosed. Fauna’s team, including its founders, will join Amazon in New York City. An Amazon spokesperson expressed enthusiasm for Fauna’s vision and stated that the collaboration aims to enhance customer lives with innovations in robotics. Fauna recently released its first product, Sprout, a 59-pound bipedal robot, to select R&D partners. This marks Amazon’s second known robotics acquisition this month, following the purchase of Rivr, known for stair-climbing delivery robots, with undisclosed terms as well.
