Amazon is offering new one-hour and three-hour delivery options in numerous U.S. cities to compete with companies like Instacart, DoorDash, and Uber Eats. Over 90,000 items are available through this system, marked in the Amazon app with delivery time labels. Prime member fees are $9.99 for one-hour and $4.99 for three-hour deliveries, while non-members pay $19.99 and $14.99, respectively. One-hour delivery is available in hundreds of cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, D.C., while the three-hour option spans 2,000 cities and towns. A new storefront showcases eligible items for these deliveries. Udit Madan, Amazon’s senior vice president of Worldwide Operations, stated that the company aims to ease customers’ busy lives and add value for Prime members. The service utilizes existing same-day fulfillment centers. This is not Amazon’s first foray into rapid deliveries, following past initiatives like “Prime Now” and a 30-minute delivery pilot. Amazon has also been expanding in the quick commerce sector globally, with services in India and the UAE promising ultra-fast deliveries.
