Players will exclusively access games available within their Luna subscription.
Amazon Luna announced a significant change that will prevent players from purchasing third-party games and subscriptions. The cloud gaming service will remove previously purchased games on June 10th, 2026, though they will still be accessible on other platforms via EA, GOG, or Ubisoft accounts used for purchase.
Amazon Luna will no longer support EA, Ubisoft, or GOG’s third-party stores, and it’s discontinuing subscriptions to Ubisoft Plus and Jackbox Games. Active subscriptions bought through Luna will be canceled at the end of the billing cycle. The “Bring Your Own Library” benefit is also ending, preventing access to third-party platform titles on Luna after June 3rd. Luna will not offer refunds for third-party games purchased through the platform.
Amazon Luna emerged in 2020, competing with Xbox Cloud Gaming and the now-defunct Google Stadia. It allows streaming various titles on desktops, mobile phones, or smart TVs. In 2023, Luna introduced game purchasing capabilities and expanded into party games.
The update restricts users to games included in their Amazon Luna subscription. The Luna Standard plan, at $14.99 with Amazon Prime, includes games like EA Sports FC 26, Hogwarts Legacy, Skyrim, and Death Stranding, while the $9.99 per month Luna Premium offers a broader library, including Alien: Isolation, Borderlands 3, and Sonic Frontiers.
Brittney Hefner, a spokesperson for Amazon Luna, informed The Verge that the service is transitioning away from certain subscription, game store, and a-la-carte purchasing models in favor of approaches believed to be more beneficial long-term. Amazon will continue investing in a range of gaming experiences, including strong third-party titles via the Luna subscription.
