Apple Aims to Introduce Smart Home Display Alongside iOS 27 Launch

2 Min Read

Apple has been developing a smart home display for multiple years, with the product’s launch depending on the anticipated Siri update. A recent article indicates that Apple is aiming for a release around the time of iOS 27, with September being the next possible launch period.

As per Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple had initially scheduled the smart display reveal for earlier this month, anticipating the new Siri would be ready by then. However, the display has been completed for months, and now the company is focusing on a September launch, coinciding with when the new Siri is expected to be finalized.

This article aligns with earlier leaks that suggested a fall release for the device. Notably, leaker Kosutami indicated a “MagSafe-like snap-to-wall feature” present in one of the prototypes, hinting at innovative design aspects.

Gurman’s article describes the smart display as resembling a square iPad that can be mounted on a half-domed speaker base or affixed to a wall. It is intended to function as a central AI hub for the household, featuring a user interface akin to that of an Apple Watch, with circular app icons.

A prominent feature of the display is its facial recognition system, which can identify users as they come near. This function allows the device to showcase personalized information, including calendar events, reminders, notes, music, and news preferences.

The adaptability of this smart display seems to exceed similar offerings from competitors like Amazon. Earlier this year, Apple forged a partnership with Google to leverage the Gemini AI models for improved Siri and Apple Intelligence features. While these enhancements have yet to be launched, they are projected to start rolling out with iOS 26.5, with iOS 27 expected to be unveiled at Apple’s annual WWDC keynote in June.
