After an unexpected delay, the series is scheduled to debut on March 4th.

The French-language drama, “The Hunt,” from Apple TV, previously on hold due to plagiarism concerns, now has a confirmed release date. Apple announced that “The Hunt,” produced by French studio Gaumont and directed by Cédric Anger, will premiere on March 4th. This follows delays after media reporter Clement Garin highlighted similarities between “The Hunt” and Douglas Fairbairn’s 1973 novel “Shoot,” which was adapted into a film in 1976.

Both stories revolve around hunters fearing they are being hunted during an expedition. Initially set to premiere on December 3, 2025, “The Hunt” was postponed due to these accusations, prompting Apple TV to delay the premiere while Gaumont investigated the plagiarism claims.

Gaumont has since acknowledged that “The Hunt” is based on existing work, as now detailed in Apple’s press release, referring to it as a series by Cédric Anger based on “Shoot” by Douglas Fairbairn.

“Upon discovering this, Gaumont immediately took steps to identify rights holders and secure necessary authorizations,” Gaumont stated. “Respect for works and authors’ rights is fundamental for Gaumont, dependent on trust and transparency with creative artists.”

While Apple has resolved “The Hunt” issues, there are no updates on “The Savant,” an earlier announced crime drama about combating domestic terrorism, whose release was postponed post-Charlie Kirk shooting. Though “The Hunt” indicates Apple is organizing its release schedule, “The Savant” might see further delays.
