Apple is broadening its American Manufacturing Program (AMP) by adding four new collaborators: Bosch, Cirrus Logic, TDK, and Qnity Electronics. This effort is intended to boost component manufacturing in the United States, with a pledge to invest $400 million in these firms by 2030. This funding is part of a larger $600 billion, four-year commitment to U.S. manufacturing and innovation.

The newly added AMP participants will assist in various facets of Apple’s manufacturing capabilities. TDK will provide TMR sensors, enhancing the quantity of chips acquired from U.S. silicon supply chains. Apple, in partnership with Bosch and TSMC, will create integrated circuits for Bosch’s sensing hardware at TSMC’s site in Camas, Washington. Moreover, Apple is collaborating with Cirrus Logic and GlobalFoundries to establish new semiconductor process technologies at GlobalFoundries’ facility in Malta, New York. Qnity Electronics, together with HD MicroSystems, will deliver crucial materials and technologies for semiconductor manufacturing and advanced electronics.

In alignment with its commitment to American manufacturing, Apple intends to commence production of a portion of its Mac mini supply in the United States later this year, alongside its ongoing Mac Pro production. Additionally, Apple has acquired its global iPhone and Apple Watch cover glass from the U.S., further emphasizing its commitment to bolstering local manufacturing and component production.
