Apple’s iPhone Fold may arrive later than expected. A new report by Nikkei suggests Apple is facing engineering challenges that could push the launch of its first foldable iPhone to 2027. The report indicates unexpected issues during early test production, risking the mass production timeline. Despite no specifics on the issues, they are engineering-related rather than supply chain concerns. Apple must resolve these by early May, or the launch might be postponed. The iPhone Fold was anticipated to release in September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models. However, analyst Tim Long suggests Fold shipments might start in December 2026. This doesn’t rule out a September unveiling, similar to the iPhone X’s 2017 launch approach.
