Apple recently unveiled a new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, both featuring its latest chips, and introduced a new line of displays. This lineup includes a $1,599 Studio Display and a $3,299 Studio Display XDR.

The new 27-inch displays offer enhanced cameras and improved connectivity.

Both displays are equipped with a 12MP Center Stage camera, which delivers enhanced image quality. They also support Desk View, a feature that simultaneously shows the user’s face and an overhead view of the desk.

The Studio Display boasts a 5K Retina display with over 14 million pixels, 600 nits of brightness, and supports the P3 wide-gamut color standard, covering a wider range of the visible color spectrum than standards like sRGB.

The displays feature Thunderbolt 5 ports, allowing connection to accessories and daisy-chaining up to four displays (including a Thunderbolt 5 Pro cable). They include a three-microphone array and a six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio. Apple claims the new sound system provides 30% deeper bass than the previous generation.

The premium Studio Display XDR features a 5K Retina XDR display (5120×2880 resolution) with a mini-LED backlight and over 2,000 local dimming zones. It achieves up to 1000 nits of SDR brightness and 2000 nits of peak HDR brightness and has a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. It also supports the Adobe RGB color standard.

The display offers a refresh rate of 120Hz, supports Adaptive Sync, and includes DICOM medical imaging presets and a Medical Imaging Calibrator, making it suitable for medical environments. Apple states that the Medical Imaging Calibrator on macOS is pending FDA clearance and should be available soon in the U.S.

The Studio Display’s stand is tilt-adjustable, while the Display XDR also allows height adjustment.

Both displays are available with either the standard or nano-texture glass options, according to Apple.

Pre-orders start on March 4, with availability beginning March 11.
