It looks like we’re in for another busy summer of streaming sci-fi. In recent years, summer has become a great time for new streaming sci-fi content, and 2026 seems no different. Apple has announced the return of its multiversal thriller “Dark Matter” for a second season, which will begin streaming on August 28th. This season will consist of 10 episodes, concluding in October.
“Dark Matter,” adapted from Blake Crouch’s novel, first debuted in 2024. The story revolves around physics professor Jason Dessen, played by Joel Edgerton, who finds himself kidnapped by another version of himself from a different timeline, leading to intense alternate reality drama. Apple’s description for the new season reveals that it will follow Jason’s family as they attempt to live a peaceful life until unforeseen circumstances force them to flee once more.
Alongside the announcement, Apple also released first-look photos for the upcoming season.
