Inside the Orion capsule, the total solar eclipse appeared as a black orb of the Moon encircled by the sun’s halo. The Artemis II astronauts have captured stunning images of Earth and the Moon, and now add to it a total solar eclipse as seen from deep space. The Moon had sharp yet uneven edges, with stars scattered around. NASA shared another photo showing Earth partially in shadow, reminiscent of the “earthrise” image from the Apollo 8 mission. The four-member crew experienced the eclipse beyond the Moon, with a longer total eclipse than on Earth and a clear view of the Sun’s corona. Commander Reid Wiseman expressed the indescribable nature of the view during the eclipse.
