Assessing the Expected Garmin Sleep Band: Will It Fulfill Hopes?

This summer, Garmin is anticipated to unveil a new armband without a screen that could transform how users monitor their health and fitness. This eagerly awaited device, termed the “Garmin Sleep Band,” targets those who find conventional Garmin watches too cumbersome for sleep tracking or prefer sporting luxury watches during the day. As per reports, the band is likely to be released by July or August 2025, and it boasts several groundbreaking features.

The Garmin Sleep Band is crafted to utilize LED indicators in place of a screen, with tap gestures allowing users to turn off alarms or verify battery levels. It will feature an optical sensor to track sleep cycles and rouse users during light sleep, akin to the Garmin Vivoactive 6. While specific information on pricing and design remains under wraps, the band could create a niche for Garmin, stepping away from their usual chest straps like the HRM 200.

The band may provide basic sleep tracking or broaden to all-day health monitoring, gathering data such as Body Battery, daily readiness, and recovery. Although it may lack GPS or altimeter features, it could deliver crucial fitness tracking functionalities with an accelerometer and IP68 dust and water resistance.

The Garmin Sleep Band is set to rival the Whoop Band, potentially serving as a subscription-free option. Nonetheless, uncertainties regarding pricing and possible subscription models persist, considering Garmin’s recent pricing approaches. If Garmin holds onto its established business model, the Sleep Band could meet the needs of long-time users by offering vital data without the necessity of sporting a bulky watch.
