**Geely EX5 Enhances Functions with Apple CarPlay Upgrade**

CarPlay has recently broadened its presence to one of the rapidly advancing electric vehicles (EVs) on the market, the Geely EX5, via a complimentary over-the-air (OTA) update. Although Geely may not be extensively recognized in the United States, it is a significant global entity with ownership interests in prominent automotive brands such as Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, and Smart.

The EX5, referred to as the Galaxy E5 in China, has seen extraordinary sales since its introduction in mid-2024, swiftly achieving its 100,000th unit sold in China within a mere six months. By July 2025, worldwide deliveries surpassed 150,000 units. In Australia, the EX5 has made a significant impression, ranking as the fourth best-selling electric vehicle in June, only behind the Tesla Model Y, BYD Sealion 7, and Tesla Model 3.

With the newest OTA update, EX5 drivers in Australia can now access Apple CarPlay, available in both wired and wireless versions. This launch is presently exclusive to Australia, where the EX5 has served as Geely’s main launch model. While Geely has not specified timelines for the rollout in Asia, the UK, or Europe, the successful debut in Australia indicates that wider availability may be forthcoming as the EX5 enters more markets. It is important to highlight that CarPlay support has been rolled out prior to Android Auto, which is anticipated to launch in early 2026 via another OTA update.

In addition to the EX5’s new functionalities, CarPlay is poised for a significant enhancement next month with the arrival of iOS 26. This update will improve the CarPlay interface with new capabilities, including customizable Home Screen app icons and the debut of app widgets.
