### Apple’s iPhone 16e: A Modest Achievement in Europe

Following extensive examination by EU regulators, Apple is witnessing a shift in narrative with the introduction of its latest iPhone 16e. A recent report indicates that the iPhone 16e has successfully entered the top 10 smartphone rankings in Europe within its initial month.

#### Sales Performance

The iPhone 16e launched in ninth position overall in March 2025, representing 8% of Apple’s regional iPhone sales and 2% of the overall smartphone market. In Western Europe, its results improved slightly, securing seventh place.

However, the sales data suggests that the iPhone 16e’s introduction was not as strong as earlier mid-range models. In comparison to the iPhone SE 2022 and the SE 2020, the 16e’s launch exhibited a drop in sales by 17% and 20%, respectively. The previous SE models commanded a more significant portion of Apple’s sales during their first 30 days, with the SE 2022 achieving 12% and the SE 2020 capturing 19%. Additionally, the SE 2022 was ranked sixth, while the SE 2020 secured third place on the continent’s bestseller chart.

#### Pricing Challenges

The key element influencing the iPhone 16e’s performance seems to be its pricing. The launch price of €699 for the iPhone 16e is considerably higher than the €699 for the SE 2022 and €479 for the SE 2020. This pricing approach has restricted its attractiveness, particularly in a tough economic environment. Moreover, consumers have access to alternatives like the iPhone 15, which has a similar price point but delivers superior specifications. The iPhone 15 also made it to Europe’s top 10 list in April.

#### Conclusion

Although the iPhone 16e has carved out a spot on the leaderboard, its performance is relatively weaker than that of its predecessors. Still, during a time when Apple has encountered numerous obstacles, including legal battles and regulatory challenges in Europe, even a modest achievement like the iPhone 16e is a positive development for the tech giant.
