Facer Makes a Comeback on Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 with Significant Update

**Developers Can Now Create WFF Faces in Facer Creator, While the Facer App Demonstrates How Battery-Savvy Its Updated Wear OS 6-Compatible Faces Are**

The Facer app has recently achieved full compatibility with Wear OS 6, representing a major enhancement for smartwatch users and developers alike. As of July 24, the app now accommodates Watch Face Format (WFF) faces, crafted for better battery efficiency and featuring ambient Always-On Display (AOD) modes. This development is especially thrilling for developers since Facer’s “Rosetta Stone” tool enables them to design a single watch face compatible with both WFF and Apple Watches.

With the debut of the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic powered by Wear OS 6, users can again download custom watch faces. This shift comes on the heels of Google’s declaration at I/O in May that Wear OS 6 would permit third-party watch face applications, enabling users to discover them through specialized storefronts rather than searching individually on the Play Store.

Facer’s update features a “Power Impact” rating for each watch face, signifying its influence on battery longevity. The ratings span from Minimal to High, determined by factors such as pixel power consumption in ambient mode. Although most current WFF-compatible faces are premium or paid, Facer is providing a limited-time promotion for new Premium members at $14.99 for the first year or $2.99/month.

The Facer Creator tool now incorporates WFF into its platform, allowing developers to craft watch faces compatible with Wear OS, Apple Watches, and other formats. This integration is anticipated to enhance the diversity of available watch faces. At present, most selections hail from popular franchises like Fallout, Star Trek, Barbie, and more, with only a handful of non-branded faces accessible for free.

Facer is also unveiling a social “Looks” segment within its app, enabling users to display their custom watch designs. As Facer accommodates new Wear OS 6 watches like the Pixel Watch 4, it will be intriguing to observe how other watch face applications like WatchMaker, TIMEFLIK, Pujie, and Recreative adjust to this newfound compatibility.
