FBI Probes Steam Games for Hidden Malware

1 Min Read

If you’ve downloaded certain games, the FBI wants to hear from you.

The FBI is interested in speaking with Steam users who may have downloaded games with hidden malware. The agency’s Seattle division is currently looking for individuals potentially affected by this issue. They’ve provided a form for gamers to submit their information if they’ve been impacted.

The FBI states that the malware intrusion affected Steam users between May 2024 and January 2026. The identified games with embedded malware include BlockBlasters, Chemia, Dashverse/DashFPS, Lampy, Lunara, PirateFi, and Tokenova.

To determine if you were targeted, the FBI’s form requests basic information such as your Steam username, the games you downloaded, and when this occurred. The agency is curious about any unsolicited contact or losses experienced due to the malware, including impacts on bank balances, cryptocurrency, Steam inventory, or other digital accounts.

The infected games ranged from shooters to platformers and included both new releases and updates to existing games. Once discovered, the problematic games were promptly removed from Steam.

Though many of these games weren’t widely popular, BlockBlasters was linked to a significant incident, where $150,000 in cryptocurrency was stolen from an infected user’s computer.
