Samsung is deploying a fresh update for the Galaxy S26 lineup, incorporating AirDrop-style file sharing features. This update, which is part of the One UI 8.5 launch, permits Galaxy S26 users to effortlessly share files with Apple gadgets like iPhones, iPads, and Macs without the need for third-party applications. The update is roughly 870MB in size and includes a new “Share with Apple devices” option in the Quick Share settings, which is enabled by default. This function facilitates file sharing between the Galaxy S26 Ultra and devices such as the iPhone 16 Pro, as long as both devices have their visibility configured to ‘Everyone’. Although Samsung is not the pioneer of this capability, following Google’s similar update for the Pixel series, it represents a notable advancement in enhancing cross-platform file sharing. To utilize this feature, Galaxy S26 users must update their devices to the latest software version through the Settings menu. Presently, the feature is limited to the Galaxy S26 series, but future availability for older Galaxy models could be possible.
