Searching for an affordable Garmin watch to explore the ecosystem without breaking the bank? The Garmin Venu Sq 2, with a $100 discount, is an appealing choice.
Think you missed out on the top Prime Day Garmin offers? Even though Prime Day wraps up at midnight on July 11, some bargains will remain on rival sites like Best Buy throughout the weekend. Currently, one economical (for Garmin) deal is the Garmin Venu Sq 2 at $149 (a $100 discount) at Best Buy.
In our initial review, we referred to the Garmin Venu Sq 2 as the “Goldilocks smartwatch” due to its optimal combination of smart features and fitness capabilities. Since that time, Garmin watches have become more advanced but also pricier; while I’d love to suggest the Venu 3 or Venu X1, their cost is just too high for an impulse purchase to test out the brand.
Therefore, I’m endorsing the Venu Sq 2 as a budget-friendly entry point into the Garmin universe, to help you explore a healthier lifestyle, while enjoying advantages like an 11-day battery lifespan, comprehensive GNSS tracking, and a 1.4-inch AMOLED display.
The Garmin Venu Sq 2 remains a compelling entry-level choice for the brand. You’ll discover if you appreciate its sleep tracking and Body Battery metrics, along with preloaded and custom workouts, Garmin Coach running plans, and Garmin Pay.
✅Recommended if: You seek a lightweight, budget-friendly Garmin watch that emphasizes health metrics and fitness fundamentals, without the overwhelming complexity of Garmin’s more advanced tools on higher-end models.
❌Avoid this deal if: You desire a more up-to-date model featuring perks like a microphone & speaker, ECG/skin temperature readings, or if you’re looking for a model with features launched in the past couple of years.
One slightly pricier option, the Vivoactive 5 at $199.99, may be more attractive due to its newer tracking features such as post-workout recovery time with HRV stress and naps, plus additional sports modes and music storage. However, since the Venu Sq 2 is $50 cheaper, that’s the primary deal I’ll highlight.
I’m also a significant admirer of the Forerunner series as a runner, and the Forerunner 255 at $199 ($150 off) is an excellent bargain if you seek superior GPS and elevation precision, training load information, and battery longevity. Just be prepared for the Forerunner 255’s MIP display, which performs better outside but appears lackluster indoors.
Regardless of your choice, there are still many fantastic Garmin watches on sale if you act quickly!
