Your phone’s latest reading trick is just a tap away in Chrome.
Google has rolled out a fresh feature in Chrome for Android that enhances the browsing experience by offering immediate AI-generated summaries of web pages. This option, named “Summarize page,” is part of the Gemini overlay and enables users to swiftly obtain a summary of any web page without leaving the browser. The shortcut is conveniently found above the Gemini input bar and is available in various browsing scenarios, such as standard browsing, Custom Tabs, Discover feeds, Google News, and search results.
The summaries are produced using Gemini 2.5 Flash, guaranteeing that users obtain succinct and informative recaps of the content they are viewing. This integration simplifies the process for users to stay updated and comprehend lengthy articles or intricate information without the need to read the full page.
The feature is currently accessible to users on both stable and beta versions of Chrome for Android, with a wider release anticipated soon. By incorporating this capability directly into the browsing experience, Google seeks to make Gemini a more essential element of how users explore the web, positioning it as an integrated assistant rather than a stand-alone tool.
This advancement aligns with Google’s extensive strategy of embedding AI functionalities throughout its ecosystem, creating a seamless component of daily digital interactions. With the “Summarize page” shortcut, users can now experience a more efficient and streamlined browsing journey on their mobile devices.
