A new report from Gallup suggests that Gen Z is growing disillusioned with AI, though not enough to stop using it altogether. Based on nearly 1,600 responses from individuals aged 14 to 29 across the US, the report indicates excitement for AI is declining as its integration into school and work increases. While only 18% feel hopeful and 22% excited—down from 27% and 36% last year—anger is rising, with 31% expressing it, up from 22%. Despite anxiety remaining at 40%, nearly half believe workplace AI risks overshadow benefits, though 56% acknowledge its efficiency boost. Yet, 80% think it complicates future learning. Use among Gen Z persists, with over half using AI weekly and gearing for its presence in higher education and careers. “Gen Z isn’t rejecting AI outright, but is reassessing its role,” said Gallup’s Stephanie Marken. AI’s maturity and impacts are becoming clearer amid job market challenges and educational adaptations, raising public distrust.
