Google is introducing a new trial in its main app on Android known as “Tailor your feed,” which focuses on personalizing the Discover feed to match user preferences. This U.S.-specific test gives users the option to indicate the types of content they wish to see or avoid, utilizing AI to modify the feed accordingly. Users can enter their choices in a provided text box, and the AI will recommend content changes, such as steering clear of negative news or emphasizing certain interests like country music. The feature initiates a chat thread with the AI, allowing for additional customization by determining preferences for publishers, creators, formats, or “vibes.” This experiment comes after an earlier test where Google revamped Discover feeds into podcast-style summaries, showcasing the company’s continuous efforts to improve user experience via personalization and AI technology.
