You can now ask Gemini to change your lighting by describing the look you want.
Google is launching another update to its Home app, aiming to make controlling your smart home with the Gemini AI assistant “more natural and reliable,” as stated in the recent release notes. With the update, users can describe the type of lighting they want, such as “the color of the ocean,” and Gemini will choose the color based on the prompt.
Additionally, users can now use more natural and precise language when instructing Gemini to control appliances or climate, like telling it to “preheat the smart oven to 350 degrees” or set specific humidity levels. Google’s enhancements to Gemini include improved device recognition, such as distinguishing between a ‘lamp’ and a ‘light’, facilitating faster request completion. Moreover, kids with supervised Google accounts can now access Gemini for Home.
This update follows the introduction of “Live Search” for cameras earlier this month, along with improvements to Gemini’s contextual understanding.
Furthermore, Google announced an update to Gemini Live, which enables interactive conversations with the smart assistant. The news summaries within Gemini Live are now “deeper and more interactive” on smart displays and speakers. Users can inquire about the latest news or request a tech news update during a conversation for a detailed summary. These updates are being rolled out now.
