Google Lyria 3 Pro Extends AI Song Duration

Google has enhanced its Lyria 3 music-making AI, allowing it to generate tracks up to three minutes long and integrate with various other Google products. Previously, Lyria was limited to 30-second clips. Lyria 3 Pro not only extends the maximum length, but also offers users the ability to specify elements like intros, choruses, and bridges for improved arrangement control.

Lyria 3 Pro functions similarly to other music generation tools like Suno and Udio. Users can describe a mood, style, or instrumentation to generate a track. It can also create lyrics based on prompts or reference media.

A key feature of Lyria 3 Pro is its integration with other Google products. Users can create tracks in Gemini without needing a separate app. Google is incorporating the model into Vertex AI for enterprise customers, Google AI Studio, Gemini API for developers, Google Vids for office workers, and the newly acquired ProducerAI platform. The longer track length is particularly advantageous for ProducerAI users, who compete with Suno.

The ability to produce full songs may trigger concerns about impersonation and copyright infringement. Google addressed these concerns in a press release, asserting that “Lyria 3 and Gemini do not mimic artists,” and that naming a creator in a prompt is interpreted as broad inspiration. Google also checks Lyria 3 Pro’s outputs against existing content to prevent infringement and includes a silent SynthID watermark to identify AI-generated content.
