Google Photos is about to undergo a major update that will elevate its creative functions through the incorporation of AI technology. This update brings forth new features like photo-to-video capabilities and a “Remix” option, enabling users to convert their still images into vibrant content.
The photo-to-video feature, akin to what Google unveiled with Gemini, allows users to generate brief six-second clips from their pictures. This is realized using Google’s AI generative technology, which breathes life into static images to produce short animated snippets. Users can select between “subtle movements” or “I’m feeling lucky” options to animate their pictures, with the option to save or recreate the clips until they reach their desired outcome.
Alongside photo-to-video, Google Photos will introduce “Remix,” a feature that empowers users to reinterpret their images in diverse styles, such as anime, 3D animation, and beyond. This function will also encompass choices like “Comic” and “3D animation,” granting users a broad spectrum of creative opportunities.
Google aims to unify these AI generative features within a new “Create” tab, anticipated to debut in August. This tab will act as a central location for all creative tools in the app, including collages, highlight videos, and more.
