The Pixel lineup is beginning to attract more attention, and its launch in August is now in the spotlight.

Google’s Pixel has gained momentum in the U.S. during the last quarter, with analysts indicating that the series has expanded throughout the country.

This week, Canalys provided insights into the U.S. smartphone market share for Q2 2025, revealing a brand that has made its way onto the scene. Overall, the analytics firm notes that Q2 2025 experienced an 11% year-over-year decline in smartphone shipments, totaling 13.3 billion units. Nevertheless, the standout this time is Google, as research indicates that the company’s Pixel series has propelled it into the top five this last quarter, achieving fourth position.

In comparison to the same period last year, Google’s Pixel saw growth in the U.S., with shipments totaling 0.8 million units nationwide. This results in Google holding 3% of the market share for Q2. Additionally, Canalys reports that Google’s Pixel has grown by 13% in the U.S. market annually.

Although Google has increased its U.S. phone market share, it still trails behind Apple, Samsung, and Motorola. Samsung reportedly shipped 8.3 million units in Q2 this year, boasting an impressive 38% annual growth with its Galaxy devices. According to Canalys researchers, this is “primarily driven” by the budget-friendly Galaxy A series.

Motorola experienced a modest 2% growth in the U.S., while Apple faced an 11% decline.

Canalys points out several challenges that could impede other OEMs in the U.S., including “new requirements for local operations, uncertain tariff policies, and dwindling demand.” Their researchers also assert that the dominance of the top three manufacturers “leaves minimal opportunity for the remaining players.”

As a possible solution, Canalys suggests that other OEMs might consider establishing physical stores for consumers to visit, potentially “enhancing the market’s appeal.”

This marks the second occasion in recent history that reports of Google and its Pixel line gaining traction have surfaced. In January, India’s premium smartphone market was under examination. While many OEMs like Samsung, OPPO, and Vivo experienced marginal growth, Google made a more substantial entry into the market. The company and its Pixels saw an approximate 4% increase between January 2024 and September 2024.

Another report indicated that the Pixel 9 series played a pivotal role in helping Google achieve record-breaking sales in Q3 2024 following its launch.

All attention is focused on Google as we approach August. The company’s Made by Google event is anticipated to feature the Pixel 10 series and additional products.
